Theresa Yugar

Leadership Team

Theresa A. Yugar teaches at California State University, Los Angeles in the Chicana/o & Latina/o Studies Department. She is a Peruvian American scholar in religion with a specialization in Latin American feminism and ecology. 


She earned a Ph.D. from Claremont Graduate University and a Master of Divinity degree from Harvard University in the field of Women's & Gender Studies in Religion. She is the Chief Editor for Valuing Lives, Healing Earth: Religion, Gender, and Life on Earth (Belgium: Peeters Publishing, 2021), and, the author of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz: Feminist Reconstruction of Biography and Text (Eugene, Oregon: Wipf & Stock, 2014).


Yugar is also the recipient of a Fulbright and Hispanic Theological Initiative Fellowship, and Scholar for the Chancellor’s Doctoral Incentive Program.
