Xiao Han is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Buddhist Studies at the
Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM), where her research
focuses on Chinese immigrant Buddhist communities in Canada
and the intersection of digital religion and technology.
She is also a research fellow at the Centre for International Governance
Innovation (CiGI) and serves on the board of Sakyadhita Canada. Xiao is deeply committed to amplifying Chinese and Asian Buddhist voices in Canada, as she embodies multiple minority identities: she is a visible ethnic minority (Chinese), a sexual minority (lesbian), a recent immigrant to Canada (without the right
to vote), and a devoted Buddhist practitioner.
